heavy lifting is a not-often-discussed song, but it's
great. it's probably the most traditionally indie (that's
a weird sentence), with a strong focus on the lead
guitar riff, but it's not as traditional in other aspects.
the song structure is pretty odd, with about a minute
and a half of verse-chorus-verse and then several
minutes of instrumental. and the instrumental is
mostly just the same riff, but... it's an excellent riff, so
it holds up on repetition!

here's the band playing heavy lifting live in 2018, at
market hotel.
the song translates really nicely to a live
setting

it won't go
how did you get that damn thing to start?
when i tried
i picture what i want to be coming by

i close my eyes, i know you
it's alright
it's all part of the master plan

jumping out
ride right by
don't know when i'll be free

figured a bit for a while
go with the blood
work out a plan to get settlements
and then give up

you want more
well so do i
the last one
i'll ask you for
